Introduction to OHS

Occupational health and safety is an everyday issue that concerns everyone. It's important to know the basics of the law so you can comply. Employers and workers have legal obligations in this area, and all must be aware of their role.

Target audience 

The training targets all players in the workplace.

Objectives

  • Basic concepts and legislation
  • How to identify workplace hazards
  • Know the different types of preventive measures and their usefulness
  • Controlling occupational hazards
  • Adopting an appropriate prevention strategy

Bill C-21

In Quebec, occupational health and safety is governed by the OH&S Act, but Bill C-21 is federally regulated and further protects workers against OH&S negligence. This law applies to anyone who contravenes the laws in force, and therefore concerns all players in the workplace. This training course will help you better understand your obligations and how to protect yourself against possible prosecution.

Risk analysis

In Quebec, all employers are required to use methods and techniques designed to identify, control and eliminate risks to worker health and safety. Risk analysis is one of the preferred methods for complying with this legal obligation. This training course will show you how to make it effective.

Target audience 

The training is aimed primarily at workers and managers who are directly or indirectly involved in the company's risk analysis or health and safety committee.

Objectives

  • Know the legislation
  • Understanding the objectives of risk analysis
  • How to create an effective team
  • Understanding the difference between a risk and a hazard
  • Knowing and mastering the different stages of risk analysis

Training 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

WHMIS

Workers have the right to know the risks to which they are exposed in the workplace. It is the employer's responsibility to keep them informed. WHMIS makes it possible to identify the risks associated with hazardous materials in different workplaces.

Target audience 

The training is aimed at anyone exposed to small quantities of hazardous materials in the workplace.

Objectives

  • Recognize and identify the risks associated with hazardous materials used in the workplace
  • How to read and interpret labels and safety data sheets
  • Recognize the different pictograms and hazard categories

Health and Safety Committee

In Quebec, all companies with 20 or more employees are required to set up a health and safety committee. In order to do things properly, and to ensure that the committee is well-informed about its role, functional and effective, certain basic principles need to be mastered.

Target audience 

The training is aimed primarily at workers and managers who are directly or indirectly involved in the company's health and safety committee.

Objectives

  • Knowing how the committee works
  • Know the roles and responsibilities of each committee member
  • Find out what it takes to be a committee member
  • Understanding the health and safety committee's mandate
  • Get to know some of the tools needed to run the committee smoothly

Who is Marie-Pier Rondeau?

Marie-Pier Rondeau has been evolving and specializing in the field of communications for over 15 years, following her bachelor's degree in public communications from Université Laval. Drawing on her professional experience as a communications consultant and coordinator, her knowledge/skills acquired in management (ENAP) and continuous improvement (Lean Six Sigma certification - green belt), and her professional development over the past few years, as a consultant she supports individuals and organizations in developing their skills and ways of doing things, with regard to communication and well-being in the workplace.
